Founder’s Story
Like many other consumers today, I appreciate beauty and craftsmanship, and strongly believe that both should be attainable without having to make compromises. I started C5 company because I recognized a void in what was being offered by the traditional diamond and jewelry industry…conscious consumers had no options.
The fine jewelry industry has thrived for many decades under the same model. As such, it was a long and arduous process for me to find a socially and environmentally responsible wedding ring. False information from jewelers left me frustrated and dissatisfied. I was told things like “you can’t make jewelry from recycled metals,” which is absolutely untrue. After visiting dozens of jewelry retailers, I was convinced that there was no retailer who could offer me a ring that I would feel good about wearing the rest of my life.
My own ring was the first project of C5 and, at the time, I didn’t think it would evolve into a business. I sourced the diamonds on my own, created the design, researched metals and hired a manufacturer. Taking control of the process in this way, I was able to create a ring that matches both my personality and my values.
From this experience grew my desire to help others find sustainable jewelry alternatives and a passion for a new way of doing business. C5 uses emerging innovations and relies on a collaborative process to create the perfect jewelry for our clients.
