Coming from a South Indian family, I love jewelry and treasure the antique pieces that have been passed through generations. But I found myself wanting a modern ring to wear and wanted to stay away from conflict gems and metals. After spending 7 weeks trying to get a few estimates on stones over email from another company, I was completely frustrated. However, after consciously recycling everything possible in my home and workplace, buying locally-produced organic foods, and trying to reduce my oil dependency, I wasn’t about to give up on buying an environmentally-friendly piece of jewelry.

C5 made the entire process of designing jewelry incredibly easy and yet wonderfully creative. In the same amount of time that it took for me to get frustrated with vague responses from another company, Meghan and I worked together to create a ring that was exactly what I had been looking for. I found C5 when searching for a sustainably made wedding ring. I had looked at used jewelry, most of which was out of my budget. So, I began to look for recycled jewelry. I gave C5 just a few guidelines: something recycled, simple, and beautiful. The company worked with me to come up with materials and a design that would work. And within a few weeks, I got an affordable, beautiful, unique custom ring (a lab-grown sapphire set in recycled gold) that I’ll happily wear forever.

Also in the process, I bought my husband’s recycled gold band through C5, since I couldn’t find a used band. C5 promptly delivered his band along with my ring, making the whole process quite convenient.
